IPBL Seminar Explains Central Bank’s Comprehensive Banking Reform Project

The Iraqi Private Banks League held a specialized seminar to explain and clarify the Comprehensive Banking Reform Project currently implemented by the Central Bank of Iraq in cooperation with Oliver Wyman.

The seminar was attended by department directors, heads, and members of the Financial Inclusion, Credit, Risk Management, Compliance, and Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Committees. The session was moderated by Samir al-Nusairi, Advisor to the League.

Al-Nusairi outlined the challenges facing the private banking sector and the key pillars and measures adopted by the Central Bank during 2023–2025, which laid the foundation for launching the comprehensive reform project.

The League’s advisor presented in detail the main components and objectives of the reform project, both at the economic level and within individual banks, and the empowerment programs designed to support growth and development of the banking sector. He also clarified the Central Bank’s support programs aimed at easing capital requirements, linking the banking sector with the global financial system, providing financial and technical consulting, and ensuring compliance with reform standards.
